A whole-house repaint is the fastest way to make a Big Bear home feel brand new — and doing the inside and outside together, with one crew, is the smartest way to do it. Top Painting handles complete interior-and-exterior projects across the mountain with an experienced crew of roughly 10 to 15 painters, so your whole home is finished by people who own the result from the first wall to the last coat of trim.

One trusted crew

Why bundle interior and exterior

Hire one crew for the whole home and you get a single mobilization, a single schedule, and one person accountable for everything — usually faster and far less disruptive than two separate projects.

  • One mobilization, one schedule, one crew
  • No two-contractor finger-pointing
  • Ideal before a sale, a new purchase or a rental turn

What a whole-house project includes

We scope every home individually, but a typical whole-house repaint covers it all — and we fix the wood before we coat it. Want the room-by-room detail? See interior and exterior & cabin painting.

  • Interior: walls, ceilings, beams, trim & paneling
  • Exterior: siding, trim, fascia & soffits
  • Wood & decks stained to match
  • Repairs first — loose boards, nails, bad wood

How It Works

Our 5-step whole-house process.

The same careful sequence inside and out, from first visit to final walk-through.

1

Free on-site estimate

We walk the entire home inside and out, note prep and repairs, and give you one clear, written number — never a phone guess.

2

Protect & prep

We move heavy items, mask windows, floors and belongings, then power-wash, grind and sand surfaces to sound, paint-ready wood.

3

Repair & prime

Loose boards re-secured, popped nails re-set, cracks caulked, bare wood spot-primed — primer tinted toward your finish color.

4

Paint inside & out

Even finish coats on interior surfaces and weather-grade coatings or stain outside, scheduled around mountain conditions.

5

Final walk-through

We walk the whole home with you; the balance is due only on completion and your satisfaction.

Protection first

How we protect your home & belongings

A whole-house project touches every room and every wall, so protection is most of the job — not an afterthought. It is the heart of how we work; the full breakdown lives on our Our Process page.

  • We move what you can't — furniture, BBQs, deck items
  • Meticulous masking on windows, doors & floors
  • Detail prep: trim ground near-bare, boards re-secured

What affects your whole-house price

We never publish a flat whole-house price because no two mountain homes are alike. The honest drivers of cost are:

  • Size & surface area — total square footage inside and out. Painters often think in the ballpark of a few dollars per square foot for standard work as an industry estimate, with cabins on the higher end.
  • Prep & repair — peeling, weathered or rotted wood, loose boards and heavy sanding add labor.
  • Vaulted ceilings & high reach — two-story great rooms and tall exteriors take more setup and safety equipment.
  • Cabin wood & staining — logs, cedar and stained surfaces need different products and techniques than drywall.
  • Season & access — exterior work needs dry, mild weather; steep or hard-to-reach lots add time.

For a deeper breakdown, ask about our honest, no-pressure cost guidance during your estimate.

Ideal for

  • Full repaints — when the whole home is due and you want it done once, properly.
  • Pre-sale — fresh inside-and-out paint is one of the highest-impact ways to show a home well.
  • New purchases — make a just-bought cabin yours before you move in, with no furniture in the way.
  • Vacation rentals — refresh the whole property in one window for better listing photos and reviews.

Common Questions

Straight answers.

What is the average cost to paint a whole house?

Whole-house cost depends on square footage, how much interior and exterior is included, prep and repairs, ceiling height and the type of cabin wood involved. As a broad industry estimate, full interior-plus-exterior repaints commonly land somewhere in the low-to-mid five figures for a typical home, but mountain cabins vary widely. We do not quote whole homes by phone — you get a firm number after a free on-site walkthrough.

Should I paint the interior and exterior at the same time?

Often, yes. Bundling means one mobilization, one crew, one schedule and one point of contact, which usually saves time and hassle versus two separate projects. It is also ideal before a sale, after a new purchase, or to turn a vacation rental around in one window.

How long does a whole-house repaint take?

It depends on size, prep and weather, but a full interior-and-exterior repaint is typically measured in days to a couple of weeks. Because Big Bear exteriors need dry, mild conditions to cure, we schedule the outside around the weather and can keep moving inside regardless.

Do you move and protect our furniture?

Yes — our crew moves the heavy items you cannot, from furniture to BBQs to deck items, so every surface gets prepped properly. We also mask windows, floors and belongings carefully. You should not have to empty your home to get it painted. See our process page for exactly how we protect things.
